Fleet Fuel Appliance Phase III Project Summary

Stuart is building its Phase III Fleet Fuel Appliance, which will be ready for testing and field deployment at the end of 1998. The P3-1 Prototype demonstrates a substantial reduction in footprint from both conventional industrial hydrogen plants, a reduction of 80-90%, and previous Stuart Fuel Appliances being about 1/3 the size of the Phase II Fleet Fuel Appliance at BC Transit Vancouver.

The P3 design is highly flexible and convenient to deploy and can be sized to accommodate a wide range of production requirements without substantially increasing the footprint, making it an ideal design for transit operating authorities, bus developers and other hydrogen-fuel users. On-site electrolysis provides the possibility of using renewable energy such as hydroelectric power to produce hydrogen the "zero emission fuel supply for zero emission vehicles".
