Fleet Fuel Appliance Phase I Project Summary

Xerox/Clean Air Now!
Solar Hydrogen Project

"Fuel From The Sun"

Commissioned in 1996, the Xerox/Clean Air Now! renewable hydrogen plant, powered entirely by solar energy, demonstrates a zero emission fuel supply system for hydrogen vehicles.

Based on the Stuart Phase I Fleet Fuel Appliance, a completely integrated system of electrolysis cells, feedwater supply, compression, purification and controls is housed in a standard shipping container. High pressure hydrogen is piped to the storage vessels for delivery to the dispensing station. All equipment was supplied and installed by Stuart.

Located in Los Angeles, California, the site is used to educate the general public on the use of hydrogen as a renewable fuel.

The Clean Air Now! Public Outreach Program is funded by the United States Department of Energy.
